Isiolo South Member of Parliament Mohamed Tubi Bidu has passed away following a short illness.
Reports indicate that the lawmaker died on Wednesday evening while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
Before his untimely death, Tubi was serving his first term as an MP and sat in the Departmental Committee on Environment and Public Petitions Committee.
He was elected to represent Isiolo South Constituency in August 2022 under the Jubilee Party.
Prior to becoming an MP, the deceased lawmaker served as the Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly from 2013 to 2017.
While confirming his death, Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula described Tibu's death as a profound loss to Parliament and the nation.
"As we come to terms with this great loss, let us remember Tubi for his remarkable service and the positive impact he had on our nation," Wetang'ula said.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, constituents, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him,” the speaker added.
Ruto, who also mourned Tubi, described him as a dedicated public servant and a passionate advocate for education.
According to the Head of State, the late legistator believed in empowering communities through knowledge and opportunity.
"His commitment to transforming the lives of his constituents and advancing development in Isiolo stands as a lasting legacy of his leadership," Ruto commented.
He went on to add, "May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace and comfort his loved ones during this very difficult time."
