Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has firmly denied allegations of a secret arrangement with State House, as pressure intensifies from Western Kenya leaders demanding he dissolve his party and back President William Ruto's 2027 re-election.

Wamalwa took to X on Sunday, January 4, 2025, to assert that his party is not for sale, amid ongoing rumors of secret talks with the government.

"DAP-K is not for sale and shall be the last Party standing even if all other parties are bought in Western Kenya and Kenya, and Eugene Wamalwa will be the last man standing even if all other Presidential candidates in Western Kenya and Kenya are bought," he stated emphatically.

The controversy reached a boiling point at the burial of former Likuyani MP Enock Kibunguchy on Saturday, January 3,2025, where fellow Western leaders openly accused Wamalwa of undermining regional unity while publicly advocating for togetherness.

Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya directly challenged Wamalwa's political stance.

" You come here to tell us to come together, and you have stuck to these parties of yours. If we don't come together, there's no place those parties will take you," Oparanya said, questioning why Wamalwa clings to his party while calling for unity.

The mounting pressure has been accompanied by what DAP-K describes as a disinformation campaign.

A fake letter circulated on social media claiming Wamalwa had been expelled from his own party, with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya allegedly installed as his replacement.

DAP-K swiftly dismissed the fabricated document, confirming no such National Executive Committee meeting had taken place and that the party's leadership structure remains intact.

Governor Natembeya accused pro-government UDA politicians of orchestrating the fake letter to sow confusion ahead of the Malava parliamentary by-election.

"This letter is being circulated by UDA members who already know we are on the verge of winning the Malava seat. It is a calculated attempt to create confusion and distract our people. Ignore it in its entirety," Natembeya claimed.

Despite the coordinated push from Western Kenya leaders to consolidate the region behind Ruto, Wamalwa has remained resolute in maintaining DAP-K's independence, positioning himself as a fotress against what he characterizes as the wholesale purchase of political parties and leaders.
