Popular Pastor on the Spot for Radicalization of Children in Malindi

A controversial pastor in Malindi, Kilifi County is on the spot over allegations of spreading ideological radicalization to children in his church.

Pastor Paul Makenzi of Good News International Ministries was accused of allegedly using the Bible to get children out of school.

His preaching led to children dropping out of school to follow his radical messages which are against formal education.

Police last year raided his church and rescued 53 students aged between 10 and 35 years who had been radicalized and quit school.

Kilifi County Commissioner Magu Mutindika acknowledged they were aware of the preacher’s teachings and warned parents against allowing their children to join the Malindi church that is spreading ideological radicalization.

Speaking in Kilifi, Mutindika told journalists that investigations conducted by his officers revealed that the Church located at Furunzi area along the Malindi Salagate road was not registered.

Mutindika stated: “The church was established in Malindi. He uses the bible to recruit children through ideological radicalization, many children leave school."

He vowed to deal with the pastor in accordance with the law since he was spreading ideologies which are unconstitutional.

Felicia Odado, a representative of the ACT civil rights organization agreed the televangelist's teachings had been discussed broadly in the Kilifi County peace forum forums.

He further raised concerns since the Pastor was using the bible to bring the community together to reject formal education.
