A viral video of pupils reciting the 47 counties and respective governors has sparked public debate after Kenyans noted the students were "misguided".
The pupils in maroon trousers and matching lilac shirts alleged to be from Wajir County are seen making a presentation at an unidentified function.
In the video, the leader mentions the governors while his teammates call out the counties one by one in a chorus.

However, a majority of Kenyans missed the twist in their narration as they interchanged the roles between leader and the team.
Contrary to the common setups in choirs, armies and even classroom scenarios where the team takes instructions from the leader, the pupils had creatively made the leader take instructions from the team.
As such, the team mentions each of the 47 counties and the leader calls out the corresponding county boss - a seemingly unfamiliar approach for many.
The altered rhythm has created confusion as Kenyans tried to match the Governors names called out by the leader with the counties that the team calls out immediately after.
In essence, the leader is answering the call out from the team and not vice versa as many have thought.
The misinterpretation is likely due to bias influenced by the perception of a sensory experience that references on integrated sensory and memory function.
This act borders Pareidolia - the psychological phenomenon where the mind creates an illusion of a none existing image or sound, by cross-referencing other familiar patterns encountered in the past.
