Boniface Mwangi Advises Swiss President, AG Kihara and DPP Haji on Corruption Cases

Activist and former Starehe parliamentary aspirant Boniface Mwangi met Swiss President Alain Berset, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji and Anti-Corruption boss Eliud Wabukala, advising them on the renewed war against corruption.

In the Thursday meeting that followed the signing of an agreement between Kenya and Switzerland for the repatriation of looted funds stashed in the country, UK and Jersey, Mwangi assured the high-ranking officials of Kenyans' support in the fight.

He further demanded that the government extradite former Finance Minister Chris Okemo and former Kenya Power boss Samuel Gichuru as ordered by the Court of Appeal, claiming that the Judiciary was protecting them.

"50 Million Kenyans are sick and tired of corruption and the three of them should not be afraid of a few hundred corrupt individuals. Jail them all and liberate Kenya," Mwangi advised the trio who are part of a multi-agency team overseeing the ongoing operation.

Acknowledging that the agreement signed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Berset would aid in combating graft, he further called on Uhuru to implement more measures in a bid to eradicate the vice.

He asserted that the police needed to carry out proper investigations to ensure that only solid cases leading to convictions made it to court.

Mwangi also called for whistleblowers to be protected and greater efforts to be made in weeding out corrupt police officers, lawyers and judges.

"No thief will be jailed if the Kenya police won’t collect evidence properly, prosecute effectively and protect whistleblowers.

"It’s also about time that we prosecuted corrupt police officers, lawyers and judges. We know who they are but, because whistleblowers often get rewarded with a bullet, Kenyans have learnt to mind their own business," he wrote.

In addition, Mwangi hit out at President Kenyatta for allegedly authorizing the payment of Sh1.5 Billion payment by Treasury to Anglo-leasing on May 15, 2014
