Barack Obama Arrives in Nairobi, Kenya [VIDEO]

Former US President Barack Obama has met President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday afternoon at State House, Nairobi where they held talks.

The meeting came a few hours after Obama arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at around 1pm where he was received by Foreign Affairs ‏CS Monica Juma, US Ambassador Robert Godec and step-sister Auma Obama.

Reports by the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU) indicate that Obama was welcomed at State House by President Uhuru Kenyatta alongside Deputy President William Ruto.

Obama and his entourage of over 300 delegates is expected to be in the country for a two-day visit before heading out to South Africa

During the visit, Obama is expected to hold talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta and launch of his half-sister Auma Obama’s Sauti Kuu, an NGO for youth empowerment on Monday.

Unlike Obama's last visit to the country as the POTUS when the country was held on a self-imposed economic lock down for nearly two days, business in Nairobi continued operating normally with little disruption.

The fact that Obama is visiting the country as a private citizen was also evident in the smaller size of his motorcade amounting to about 20 cars and 7 police outriders.

The former US President is set to hold talks with NASA leader Raila Odinga at Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel, Westlands, at 4pm.

Obama is expected to take a flight from JKIA to Kisumu International Airport before boarding a helicopter to his paternal home in Kogelo, Siaya County.

Heavy security has been deployed at (JKIA) and K’Ogello, at his grandmother Mama Sarah’s home.
