“Nandis for Nandi. Please support Kitur Bernard raise 6 million for his petition,” the message circulating on social media read in part.

He claimed that he is unable raise the money due to financial distress.

Kitur petitioned against Alfred Keter’s victory as Nandi Hills MP in court when he initially won as Keter was ordered to pay Ksh1 million on March 1.

However on July 10, the appellate court recalled the High Court’s verdict.

Kitur was ordered to pay Ksh 3million to Keter along with Ksh5 million amounting from the suit cost.

A Nandi voter, Robert Kimei had also lodged a petition but later withdrew forcing Kitur to be the main applicant.

In the 2017 election he came second after Keter who garnered 28,293 votes against his 13,872 votes.
