Three People Have Died After Grisly Accident in Embu

An accident on Saturday morning along Embu road has left three people dead. One of the victims is in critical condition.

Police reports indicate that the accident involved a Probox that veered off the road. The car was on the Kanyoyoo-Embu road at around 10 am but the driver lost control after hitting a culvert.

The culvert which channels water away from the roads led to the vehicle rolling over severally leaving three dead. The three included two men and a woman.

Kagonde Area chief Sebastian Mangee told Citizen that the fourth victim was rushed to Matuu Level four hospital and is in critical condition.

The Police also had a challenge removing the deceased from the car as it had turned into a mangled wreck.

A few days ago, there was an accident in Embu along Mutunduri-Kianjokoma road that left six people dead. The accident also happened on a morning in Kagari village.

The victims had been taken to Embu Level five hospital to receive treatment. The casualties who were initially three, saw two more die in hospital.

"The driver was overtaking on a blind corner where the visibility was poor. We urge drivers to be keen while on the road to help avoid unnecessary accidents,” said Police boss Moses Ombati when he was talking about the accident that involved a minivan and a lorry.

Residents also said that there was a challenge in trying to save the victims from the wreckage, similar to Saturday morning’s accident.

The victims who were in the minivan were travelling back home coming from a medical check-up from a hospital.
