Police Disguised as Hawkers Nab Notorious Gang [VIDEO]

A police officer working undercover disguised as a hawker managed to nab a notorious criminal gang.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that police preyed on the gang which was terrorizing pedestrians and motorists along Mombasa road.

Police nabbed the criminals and ordered them to lie on the ground along the road, a situation which created a bit of traffic.

According to hawkers, there has been a series of daylight robberies along Mombasa road and sometimes motorists would be forced to open their car windows least their vehicle gets smashed and robbed.

In June, a gang carjacked two matatus along Jogoo Road and robbed the passengers while wielding pistols and knives.

The victims and the police noted that the first matatu was attacked near Burma Market by four men who had pretended to be passengers.

They took away cash, rings, mobile phones and other valuables and alighted before they attacked another vehicle.

“We are looking for the gang behind the incidents but the crew should explain the measures it has taken to stop crime,” Nairobi police boss Joseph ole Tito stated.

Criminal gangs appeared to have been emboldened enough to relocate to streets in the city centre that were previously considered safe where they terrorize residents.

They usually target people leaving ATMs, forex bureaux and M-Pesa shops — and even pedestrians going about their businesses.
