Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has narrated how he rejected Ksh500 million bribe meant to manipulate ongoing probe on graft scandals.
Speaking to People Daily, Kinoti indicated that a couple of graft suspects had tried to bribe him several times but they failed.
The most recent incident happened six weeks ago when an MP close to him is said to have organized a meeting where an offer of Ksh500 million was made.
The MP invited Kinoti to a luxury hotel in Kiambu.

On arrival, the DCI noted there was a hidden agenda because he was investigating most people who were present.
One of the suspects placed a briefcase stashed with US dollars on the table and requested him to drop the charges.
The 500 million had been converted to $ 5 million.
He was told the conversion was to make the money more portable in 50,000 $100 notes.
At this point, Kinoti stormed out of the meeting leaving the suspects behind.
“I found myself in an awkward position but I decided to leave it at that. But it should serve as a warning to others with such thinking that next time they would be arrested,” he remarked.
At the time, he was investigating the alleged corruption in Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), Kenya Pipeline Company (KPS), National Youth Service (NYS) and Kenya Bureau of Standard (KeBS.)
On a separate ordeal, a group of individuals claiming to brokers have secured an interview with him at his office and offered him Ksh 200million to stop probe on contraband sugar.
Kinoti directed them to leave his office and ordered that nobody with a briefcase should be allowed in.
“I don’t want blood money...I am determined to fight corruption to end and looters should be prepared to carry their own cross,” he noted.
In his tenure, Kinoti has initiated far-reaching measures to streamline operations in the fight against crime and corruption which saw the arrest of several high profile individuals.
