Police Sound Alarm on Drink-spiking Gang Drugging Men in Murang'a

Police have sounded an alarm on an all-female gang responsible of spiking drinks and drugging several men at popular bars and lounges in Murang'a County.

At least 10 men are reported to have fallen victim to the gang in the past month, with the women accused of heading home with the men before robbing them.

The women are further alleged to have keen eyes; targeting bankers, senior government employees and men with expensive cars.

One of the victims revealed that the women pretend to be new in town and take time to ensure their target is relaxed.

The targets are drugged before being robbed of electronic devices and other valuables either at their homes, in lodgings or in their cars.

Murang'a County Commander Mohammed Farah revealed that the biggest challenge they faced had been getting men to report the cases, with many of them afraid of ruining their reputations.

“The problem with the victims is that they are not recording statements with us so that we can act,” he told Nation.

Another of the victims gave details of how he was lured before being drugged and stolen from.

“I was in my third beer when a lady asked whether she could join me. I bought her two beers. She said she was in town to visit a friend who had not shown up but decided to wait in the club since she was new in the area," he stated.

The victim went on to disclose that he took the woman home where she prepared a meal.

He started feeling dizzy immediately after tasting and lost consciousness for several hours before waking up to realize he had been robbed.

Dr Humphrey Gikonyo warned of the serious health risks associated with mixing certain drugs with alcohol.

“The drugs are very dangerous especially when mixed with alcohol since when combined they have a powerful anaesthetic effect,” he explained.
