Kenya Urban Roads Authority(KURA) has called on all suppliers, contractors, and consultants to register for the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System before July 1, 2025.
e-GP is an online platform governments use to handle all procurement activities digitally, from tendering to contract management.
In Kenya, it was introduced to improve transparency, reduce corruption, and make it easier and more efficient for suppliers to access government opportunities.
In a notice released on Saturday, June 21, KURA Director General Silas Kinoti said that this is in line with the rollout by the National Treasury & Economic Planning following a presidential directive and ongoing Public Finance Management Reforms.
This reform is an initiative used to enhance accountability, transparency, and efficiency in how public funds are allocated, spent, collected, and accounted for.
"In line with the Presidential directive and the ongoing Public Financial Management Reforms, the National Treasury has rolled out the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system across all the National and County Government procuring entities," the notice stated.
The authority urged anyone interested in participating in government procurement processes to register through the e-GP portal before the deadline.
Those who prefer in-person assistance are encouraged to visit their offices at the Treasury Building along Harambee Avenue or any National Treasury desk at Huduma Centres.
KURA added that the new system has reduced procurement costs through streamlined digital processes, increased efficiency in handling procurement, and improved transparency and accountability in all transactions.
After registering, users will benefit from uniform procedures across national and county government entities, as well as enhanced confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of procurement data.
On May 14, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei directed all procurement entities to shift to e-procurement, stating that it would help save billions of shillings lost through graft and interference.
The directive came after a trial was conducted in the new digital system between March and May before the rollout.
