Data Saving Twitter Lite Launched in Kenya

On Monday, social media platform Twitter launched data saving Twitter Lite in Kenya.

Twitter Lite is designed to load faster on slower network connections, like 2G and 3G.

A statement from Twitter indicated that the move was meant to improve the experience of netizens who prefer the platform.

“When building new products, we want to make sure what we create allows people to have the best possible experience, no matter where they are,” remarked Product Manager Jesar Shah.

It also has a smaller footprint which means it takes up less storage space on the phone.

Lite users can turn on a Data saver mode that allows them to control which images or video load when browsing the network, you can load this content by tapping “Load Image” or “Load video,” as needed.

The app is also under 3MB in size saving you more data on download.

It also has a bookmarks feature which allows a user to save important tweets for later use when more data or a better internet connection is available.

Push notifications, night mode and threaded tweets are also available on the app.

The version was released last year and is only available in 45 countries.

Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Morocco and Zimbabwe are the only African countries that have access to it.
