Linton Maina Impresses Manchester United Scouts

Linton Maina, Hannover 96 midfielder, has caught the eye of Manchester United’s scouts who wish to sign him up to the club.

This is made even more impressive by the fact that it's his Bundesliga debut and has only made two appearances so far for Hannover.

His career began in 2003 playing for SV Pfefferwerk for seven years before moving to Hannover.

The 19-year old, born of a German mother and Kenyan father, has made three appearances for the German under 16 national team, four for the under 17s, six for under 18s and five for the under 19s.

In May of this year, he registered his first assist when his team was playing against Bayer Leverkusen that resulted in a goal, something that gave him the confidence to surge on.

“My first input in the game was successful as I helped the team win a free kick in a dangerous position and it gave me confidence...the assist is my highlight and it made me feel great,” he was quoted.

Hannover 96 coach Andre Breitenreiter has expressed deep satisfaction in Maina’s performance and has hinted at including him in the first team.

He is also eligible to play for Harambee Stars having attained the legal age requirement.

This comes barely a week after another Kenyan, 24-year -old Michael Olunga was acquired by a top-tier Japan club, Kashiwa Reysol from Chinese club Guizhou Zhicheng.

The move saw the Harambee Stars striker become the first Kenyan playing professional football for Japan.
