International Drug Queen Arrested in Nairobi With Sh3M Heroin

Ms. Elizabeth Akinyi Mboga, allegedly among Kenya's top drug dealers and recruiters, was arrested in Nairobi's Syokimau estate by a multi-agency security team.

Akinyi was found with several passports and e-tickets as well as two kilogrammes of heroin valued at Sh3 million.

Investigators believe that the travel documents are used by various drug couriers who are paid to transport the drugs to several international locations.

Having allegedly started her own network, she is said to be a leading heroin distributor in the local market and also collects cocaine from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia destined for European, Asian and Arab markets including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, Netherlands and Thailand.

According to the sleuths, Akinyi began as a local connect for Nigerian drug cartels working under Anthony Chinedu who was deported from Nairobi in 2013.

She then established her own network, recruiting young men and women desperate to make some money.

Akinyi also allegedly offers the recruitment services for other cartels in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria and India.

Investigators have been on her trail following the arrests of a number of her drug couriers in various locations.

Most recently, one of the alleged mules, Wycliffe Were, was arrested in New Delhi on August 17th 2018 with ingested pellets.

She is believed to have sent at least 20 mules on various missions since 2017 and prosecutors plan to consolidate the cases to strengthen the case against Akinyi.
