Uhuru Reveals New Thing He Learnt About Trump During White House Meeting

President Uhuru Kenyatta revealed that he had learned a new trait of United States (US) President Donald Trump following his August 27, 2018 visit to the White House.

Speaking to BBC's Zeinab Badawi, President Kenyatta relayed that Trump has a focus on doing business with Africa.

The Kenyan Head of State had been asked to comment on a controversial remark that was made by the US president in January where he referred to third-world nations as "s***hole countries".

"Let me put it to you this way, what we need is a better understanding of the situation and I think I had an opportunity to do that during my recent visit to Washington DC. Trump has a much better understanding of Africa and Kenya and I think basically he is a person who wants to do deals.

"I wouldn’t want to look at it from past issues, can we do business, that’s how I want to look at it going forward.

"We are saying that Africa is ready for business and looking for partners who share and we need to put the true picture of who Africa is today," Uhuru explained.

The journalist further tasked Uhuru to elaborate on the alleged overpriced Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project which was said to have cost three times as is the case in the industry.

"It wasn’t expensive looking into the fact that we had to take care of environmental issues, we had to ensure that the railway didn’t become an impediment to what Kenya is known for…its parks, the environmental aspects were very unique and we covered them," he stated.

Following the US visit, President Trump also hailed the partnership between Kenya and the US adding that his administration is keen to further the collaborative efforts.

"We have a tremendous relationship with Kenya. We have terrorism, a lot of trade, getting bigger all the time we are working on a major infrastructure project, a massive roadway that will be record-setting.

"We are going to conclude a lot of things, we have the president's representative in the next room and we are going to be making some excellent deals for both countries," Trump relayed after the two heads of state met.
