4 Killed in Accident at Sobea Along Eldoret-Nakuru Highway

Four people were reported dead in an accident at Sobea area along Eldoret-Nakuru highway on Friday morning.

Several other passengers were injured in the accident involving a matatu and a truck.

Salgaa base Commander Richard Sang confirmed that the 14-seater matatu from Eldoret was heading to Nakuru when it rammed into the truck claiming four lives.

Sang stated that the truck was also headed to Nakuru and those injured were rushed to nearby health facilities.

The accident occurred at 2:00 AM when the 2NK Sacco matatu carrying about twelve passengers hit the truck that was parked on the roadside.

According to the area, OCPD Josephat Kioko 2 men and two women died instantly while at least eight injured passengers were being treated at the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital.

Kioko stated that the driver of the matatu escaped after the accident and police launched a hunt for him.

"The matatu hit the lorry and four people died instantly. The lorry was parking on the roadside and its driver just told me that it had developed a technical problem on Thursday night," confirmed Kioko.
