Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris Speaks on Impeaching Governor Mike Sonko

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Muthoni Passaris has defended the County Governor Mike Sonko in the face of a looming impeachment.

Speaking during the third anniversary of Sonko’s late father in Machakos County, Passaris asked Nairobi MCAs to stop politicking and let Sonko serve the electorate.

"As Nairobi County legislators we are not interested in sideshows and unwarranted wrangles," the Woman Representative stated.

"Let us focus on development issues and delivery of services by the County government," Passaris concluded.

Oh his part, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino condemned the impeachment threats by the Nairobi MCAs.

"I'm calling on the Nairobi MCAs to drop their threats against Sonko. The governor can work and sleep anywhere within the country," Babu quipped.

His remarks came after the MCA's gave Governor Sonko 14 days to return to City Hall offices or face impeachment.

"Let’s avoid politics until 2022 and give room to Sonko to deliver on his promises," Babu Owino urged the MCAs.

Through his social media pages, Sonko alleged that over 60 Nairobi MCAs had disowned the 14-day notice by the Assembly to his administration.

Sonko relocated his operation base from City Hill, Nairobi to his Mua Hills residence in Machakos County following what he called threats to his life.

Sonko accused a senior State House official of orchestrating his woes at City Hall after the resignation of Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe.
