KPC Recalls Tankers Filled With Water to Kisumu Depot

The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) recalled several vehicles to its plant in Kisumu after it was discovered that the tankers were filled with water.

Drivers reportedly noticed leakages and informed the management after going as far as 60 kilometres, compelling officials to order them to return to the depot.

While the water was alleged to have been loaded by mistake, Kisumu Depot Manager Herman Munga promised to issue a clear explanation for the occurence after investigations were conducted.

“We have received the complaints and have called back all the people affected to be able to establish what could have gone wrong.

“As an institution, we take seriously any issue raised and don’t want members of the public to be adversely affected,” he stated.

Munga further noted that other brands were not affected by the issue.

The tankers were supposed to transport fuel from Kisumu to various towns in the Nyanza region.

KPC has faced a number of mishaps this year, with some endangering members of the public.

On August 21, a pipeline leak near Kondele along the Kibos-Kisumu highway led to a huge scramble for fuel.

Police eventually arrived on the scene and  dispersed the crowd, with KPC engineers later undertaking repairs.
