Agency Defends DP Ruto in Brand New Chopper's Purchase

Details of the real owners of the brand new chopper that had been linked to the Deputy President William Ruto have emerged.

Photos of the chopper being transported from Mombasa to Nairobi emerged during the weekend drawing speculation that, as has been the case, a politician had acquired the aircraft.

A blogger had shared the photos on Twitter claiming that the shipment had been ordered by DP Ruto alleging that it was the seventh helicopter he had procured.

On Tuesday morning, a conservancy team came out to clear the Deputy President's name after online ridicule and criticism on the costly acquisition.

Sheldrick Wildlife, a local conservation group came out to declare its ownership of the chopper dismissing earlier speculations.

"To set the record straight, this helicopter has been purchased by the DSWT as part of our Aerial Surveillance operations in Kenya, for the protection of our country's wildlife. It has no links with William Ruto, or any politician for that matter," reads a statement by the entity through its Twitter handle.

In August, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria rose to the defense of the Deputy President from similar accusations.

Kuria came out to claim that he is the owner of one of the helicopters that a school principal referred to as DP Ruto's at a public gathering.

Ruto and Kuria were both attending the event at Gaichanjiru High School, Kandara, Murang'a County.

The MP stood up to speak and immediately asserted that he owned DP's supposed chopper.

"I want us to tell each other the truth as Christians, that chopper is mine, Ruto had just borrowed it," Kuria stated.

When it was Ruto's turn to speak, he declared that Kuria's statement should put an end to the aspersions cast on his dealings.
