Retired President Mwai Kibaki Assigned New Office

Former President Mwai Kibaki has taken a quick overhaul of his office picking a new management that shall run its day-to-day activities.

In the new changes, Kibaki has picked the former Government Advertising Agency boss Ngari Gituku to be his private secretary.

Ngari had been Kibaki's communications boss even while serving as a director at the Government Advertising Agency since March 2017.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru confirmed Mr Ngari's assignment to the former President's office where he shall be the accounting officer saying the ministry is planning to replace him at GAA.

Ngari leaves GAA at a time the agency is under investigation over massive debts owed to local media houses and a number of suspicious payments.

Ngari's communication roles will be taken over by Lilian Kanyongo who has been picked from the national broadcaster, KBC.

Ms Kanyongo was previously the head of communication under the then devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri before her return to KBC.

One Michael Mwangi is now the new administrator of the former president's office. Mwangi rose through the ranks as a provincial administrator upward to the time he was picked to be the administration secretary at the Ministry of Energy.

Kibaki's confidant, Stanley Murage, shall continue serving as the policy and programmes advisor to the retired president. Murage shall handle Kibaki's activities ensuring there's is no overlap of private and official engagements.

The former president's former information officer, John Kahuthu, shall now serve the office as the programmes coordinator.

The new office bearers are expected to run Kibaki's programmes on water as the UNESCO special envoy alongside working on his memoirs.
