ODM Tears Into DP William Ruto After Claiming He Was 'Chased' From Party

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Monday responded to Deputy President William Ruto's comments in Kisauni, Mombasa that sparked a political storm.

Ruto, a former member of ODM, had accused the Raila Odinga-led movement of kicking him out of the party.

He went on to state that following Raila's March 9 handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM was looking to force him out of the Jubilee Party as well.

Ruto likened his tribulations to those of Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori and her Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa who have been summoned by ODM over their open affiliation to the DP.

On its official social media accounts, ODM asked Ruto to provide them with a copy of the Show Cause letter given to him by the party.

"We welcome brother William Samoei Arap Ruto, the former Deputy Party Leader to produce a copy of the show cause letter he says he received from the party for purposes of clarity.

"We seem not to have it... Kindly let him help us get a copy. Thank you," ODM tweeted.

Ruto voluntarily quit ODM during the Grand Coalition Government era, going on to lead the United Republican Party (URP) which entered a coalition with Uhuru's The National Alliance (TNA) forming Jubilee.

“I want to tell my friends that we know what the handshake is all about.

"They can’t export conmanship, confusion, gossip and propaganda into Jubilee,” Ruto asserted on Sunday.
