Brian Kassaine Chants 'Tibim' After Being Freed Conditionally Amid Murder Probe

Brian Kassaine, news anchor Jacque Maribe's neighbor who spent the last 13 days in police custody was on Thursday freed conditionally by a Kiambu court amid the ongoing probe into the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

A visibly relieved Kassaine chanted the popular slogan 'Tibim!' as he raised his fist outside Court 4 at the Kiambu Law Courts.

His relatives warmly embraced him as others were seen shedding tears.

Kassaine reportedly gave authorities crucial information as prosecutors build a case against main suspect Joe 'Jowie' Irungu and his fiance Maribe.

“It has been a rough 13 days in custody. I am just happy to be free and be at liberty,” he told K24 in an interview.

He is required to check in with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) every Thursday for the next two months.

He was also directed to surrender his passport within the next 48 hours.

Kassaine was approached by the couple at his home in Royal Park Estate, Lang'ata on the night of Monica's murder in her Kilimani apartment.

Jowie used Kassaine's gun to shoot himself in the chest in an apparent suicide attempt.

He was rushed by Maribe and Kassaine to various hospitals including Nairobi West Hospital and Kijabe Hospital.

Jowie also called Kassaine instructing him to "secure the firearm".

He also asked for some paraffin to burn some unspecified items.
