Ipsos Donates Ksh18 Million to Solace Education Centre in Kilifi

A Community Based Organization (CBO) in Kilifi County became the happy recipients of a generous donation from the Ipsos group.

Through the Ipsos Foundation, Solace Education Centre (SEC) received a sum of € 150,000 (Ksh17,518,204.15), the highest amount the Foundation has ever given.

"We are committed to making a difference in the world by investing in education especially those who need assistance.

"Today we are humbled to see that 300 underprivileged children have equal opportunity to be educated successful citizens, safe from early marriages.

"It is important to note that Solace Education Center received the highest funding given to a single charity by the Ipsos Foundation. This truly means a lot to us. This is our way of working towards attaining the SDGs - 2030 Agenda," stated Ipsos Kenya Managing Director Aggrey Oriwo.

George and Priscilla Masha started SEC in January 2015 with 100 children to address the high illiteracy levels amongst children and early marriages of girls as young as thirteen years in Hademu Village and the surrounding areas in Kaloleni Constituency.

"Partnering with Ipsos has enabled us to be a part of a solution that will improve livelihoods in Kaloleni.

"We may not directly alleviate poverty levels but through Solace, we will increase literacy levels which will ultimately transform our society," Mr Masha remarked.

The financial injection from Ipsos Foundation enabled the proprietors to set up four permanent stone classrooms, a dining hall and a kitchen cater for the growing school population.

"It is our hope to construct a new classroom every year until form four. The mud classrooms we began with are still in use because the demand is high. We get new children every term and we cannot turn them away," Mrs Masha added.

The Foundation also partnered with Ahadi Trust Fund to provide 280 pairs of shoes towards preventing jigger infestation.
