How Cartels are Plotting To Leak KCSE Exam

Cartels are reported to have ganged up against teachers in a bid to coerce them into leaking the national examinations set to kick off on October 22.

The Saturday Nation has exposed several incidences where teachers have been targeted for not cooperating in the exam fraud.

In Mandera, two teachers were killed at Arabia Boys Secondary School in what was initially thought to be an Al Shabaab attack.

A security official revealed to journalists that they were looking at the school community and not the terrorist group.

A Deputy Headteacher in Kakamega is nursing head injuries inflicted by a student after he confiscated a phone the student had.

In North Eastern, a Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) official, Mohamed Kullow explained that his office has dealt with cases of teachers being assaulted over examinations and feared the worst for forthcoming exams.

The attacks are planned by people keen to leak exam material or those seeking to facilitate students to cheat through mobile phones.

Some of the assaults are also propagated by candidates determined to have mobile phones in examination centers.

KNEC chairman George Magoha has condemned the attacks on teachers, adding that the government was committed to ensuring that the exams are conducted in a conducive environment.

Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has scheduled a meeting between ministry officials and top security officers to prepare for the national examinations will be managed.
