KCSE Candidate Collapses and Dies While Dancing

A KCSE student collapsed and died on Saturday while dancing during an entertainment session in school.

The candidate at Gaichanjiru Boys High School, collapsed while dancing with his friends during an entertainment programme that was organised in the school dining hall.

Efforts to resuscitate the boy were futile as he was pronounced dead on arrival at Gaichanjiru Mission Hospital.

According to James Mbothu, who is the school principal, the boy was well throughout the day.

"The boy was with others in the dining hall for their entertainment and he just collapsed.

"Efforts by his colleagues and school nurse to resuscitate him failed.

"At Gaichanjiru Mission Hospital the medics pronounced him dead on arrival and said they suspected he died as a result of cardiac arrest," stated Mbothu.

The body had since been moved to Bishop Okoye Mortuary in Thika awaiting postmortem.

Mbothu further revealed that the boy's parents were notified of the incident while the police had started investigations.

This is the third incident in October where a candidate has passed on.

Two students died two weeks ago after one consumed Methanol which had been stolen from the lab while the other drank Ethanol during a physics practical lesson.
