CS Fred Matiang'i Makes Surprise Performance in Church

To many Kenyans, Interior CS Fred Matiangi is not just like any other member of President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet. He is a no-nonsense man, tough speaking and a typical definition of a reformist.

Many, however, have no idea or any rare imagination that he has another side of him. He is a humble servant of Christ.

Just like Chief Justice David Maraga, CS Matiang'i is a staunch Adventist. In a video making rounds on social media, the CS has proven to be a good singer, probably a recap of his youthful days as an SDA choir member.

In the video, Matiang'i is captured leading a  congregation in a hymn sang in Ekegusii. The members of the Church joined the CS in praising God as the one who guides him throughout his engagements.

He was attending a fundraiser in Manga, Nyamira County on Wednesday last week, where the church was raising funds for one of their departed member's family.

The talent is not just with CS Mataing'i but his entire family. According to members of a church he attends, his family has good vocalists.

"They are good and very talented in singing. Recently, they performed for a small group of newly wedded friends in Kisii and they sang Ekeegusii hymns very nicely," confided an adventist who attended the function.

Most social media users were excited to notice how well the CS sings. He appears different from his commanding ways as a public servant.

In his countless directives and rigor with which he addresses reforms, one may expect him to have a humble personality.

Here is the video of the CS leading the congregation in the 'Ondaire' (He leads me) hymn song:
