Oburu Odinga's Home Raided, 1000 Chicken Stolen

East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Oburu Oginga's home was on Wednesday night raided by a gang who made away with more than a thousand chicken.

The incident occurred in Bondo Town with Oburu calling for the thieves to be brought to book.

“The insecurity situation in Bondo town has escalated. The thugs raided my home and made away with all the chicken in my farm.

"They also raided the home of nominated member of the Siaya county assembly Tabu Osewe and stole all her chicken stock, including other valuables,” he was quoted by the Star.

Decrying the high rates of insecurity, the regional legislator told the publication of a disturbing incident where a young man was killed in front of his family.

“The other day the thugs butchered an innocent man - my own farm attendant - and dumped his body at a nearby dam," he recalled another incident.

He added that criminals in the area had become as bold as carrying out the murders metres from the police station.

Oburu stated that some police officers had been stationed in the area for years without any meaningful impact.

"Bondo is endowed with all manner of security personnel, yet these murders and the worrying security trends increase every other day," he noted.

On the other hand, Maranda police commander Boaz Odero assured that the law enforcement officers had launched an operation to track the gangs down.

He further called on the members of the public to volunteer information that could assist in the capture of the robbers.
