Ex-Nation Journalist Appointed Kisii County Communications Director

Former Daily Nation journalist Isaac Ongiri was named the new Communications Director for Kisii County by Governor James Ongwae as part of changes in his administration.

Ongwae explained his selection noting that he had been impressed by Ongiri's work at Nation Media Group (NMG).

Ongiri replaces Mr Maseme Machuka who was moved to the Department of Alcohol and Liquor Licensing.

Ongiri joined Nation as a senior political reporter in 2012 having previously worked for The Standard and The Star.

He has also served as Director of Communications in Makueni County.

A politician as well, Ongiri unsuccessfully ran for the Kasipul Kabondo parliamentary seat in 2017.

“I have made the changes in a move to ensure better service delivery in my administration,” stated Governor Ongwae on the shake-up.

In other changes,  Kenan Miruka who had been working as the deputy director was moved to the Department of Lands.

Ongiri began his career at Standard in 2002 as a cub reporter.

He holds a degree in Communications and Public Relations from Moi University and a Diploma in Mass Communication from Kenya College of Communications Technology (KCCT) (Now Multimedia University).
