Detectives are puzzled with the death of a couple which died under mysterious circumstances in Homa Bay county.
The two, Ben Mancha (43) and Phoebe Kamire (38) were found dead in their rental house at Shauri Yako Estate.
Their bodies were discovered by a neighbour who disclosed that they were lying on separate beds.
Police suspect the Mancha killed his wife before committing suicide with the assistant chief Jacktone Olielo stating that the two consumed poison judging from the foaming in their mouths.
Olielo confirmed that an investigation had been launched into the incident and the deceased's bodies were moved to Homa-Bay County Morgue.
The couple has left behind a six-year daughter who was sleeping over at a friend's place.
"The daughter slept in a neighbour’s house because the couple was fighting," a neighbour was quoted by the Nation.
The couple's landlord told the publication that the two had engaged in frequent fights and engaged in drinking.
Neighbours privy to the incident told Citizen Digital that Mancha had given his wife Kshs200 to buy food which she used to go to a chang'aa drinking den.
She returned home having spent all the money and returned home drunk and without any food.
