2018 KCSE: Candidate Scores A- Despite 278 Marks in KCPE

Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed on Friday recognised five outstanding students for their improvement in KCSE, based on their KCPE performance.

The five were highlighted as a means the ministry was using, to progressively follow students' performance, from primary up to secondary school.

The most improved student was Josphat Mwangi Kamau who had posted a score of 278 marks in KCPE and managed an A- in the released KCSE.

He was a candidate at Mioro Day Secondary School which is a sub-county school in Mathioya, Murang’a County.

The second most improved candidate was Kiuru Richard who score a B+, up from his KCPE score of 257 marks.

Maingi George Mburu also managed a B+ which was an improvement from 279 marks in KCPE.

James Kamau Wambui was scored a meagre 186 in KCPE qualified for university admission by beating all odds to score B- in KCSE.

Gideon Cheruiyot was recognised for scoring a B (plain) even after posting 209 marks in his KCPE.

Otieno Juliet from Pangani Girls was announced by the CS as the top most candidate with A (plain) while Kaluna James and Edwin Otieno Ouko came in second and third respectively.

100 students will, however, not receive their results after they were flagged for cheating.
