The Candidate I Will Support in 2022 - DP William Ruto Speaks

Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday spoke on the kind of candidate he is likely to support come 2022 presidential elections.

Addressing a delegation from Bomet and Vihiga Counties at his Sugoi home, the DP noted that he will throw his weight behind any Jubilee candidate who will beat him on ideas, agenda and programmes.

"We will all compete for different positions in the nominations. Those of us who will be defeated should concede and support the winners," he stated.

In particular, he emphasized that he would support any other presidential nominee from Jubilee Party who defeats him fairly in the race to State House.

Rallying support for the acceptance on electoral results, Ruto noted, "In a democracy, there will always be winners and losers in a fairly-held contest."

Adding that competition should be geared towards making the lives of Kenyans better, Ruto indicated that the country is past the petty party and ethnic-based politics.

He called on those who intend to run for various political seats in 2022 not to bank on endorsements but work for it by serving Kenyans.

Among the leaders Ruto met include those from Bomet led by Joyce Laboso (Governor), Christopher Langat (Senator), Joyce Korir (Woman Representative) and nominated Senator Alice Milgo among other leaders.

On her part, Dr Laboso called on the country to oppose leaders calling for the merger of counties.

The Bomet Governor indicated that devolution had helped open up many marginalised areas and brought services closer to the people.
