Radio Jambo presenter Massawe Japanni burst into tears on Monday after listening to a torture story narrated by a caller during her show.
The caller, who was only identified as Ann, phoned in and told the scribe that she was defiled by her uncle when she was seven years old but her parents did not believe her.
When she spoke out, they went ahead and forced her to withdraw the case which she had reported to the police.
She then became an outcast in her own family after her parents disowned her.
Ann decided to move in with a man to run away from the situation at home but according to her story, the move was a jump from the frying pan into a fire.
Her newly found husband took advantage of her and would beat her up mercilessly because he knew she couldn't go back home.
The lady was vulnerable especially because she had given birth on Friday, Jan 11, at home on her own.
"Nimepata mtoto juzi lakini kufika jana mwanaume amenipiga vibaya, nikipigia watu wa kwetu simu wananiambia I'm not part of their family (I recently gave birth but yesterday he beat me up, when I contacted my relatives they told me I'm not part of their family)," she narrated.
When Massawe asked how she could reach the caller for help, Ann told the journalist that her husband had resorted to locking her up whenever he left the house.
Ms Japanni suggested to the lady to coordinate with her neighbours on how the scribe would reach her but she stated that it was impossible.
"Akinipata na majirani anawapiga (If I interact with my neighbours he beats them up)," she responded.
The presenter concluded that the lady also declined help from the police because she did not want to put her husband behind bars.
