Police Detonate Attackers Bomb at Dusit D2 [Photos]

Bomb Disposal Unit Officers have managed to detonate explosives left by the attackers in one of the vehicles which were left outside the Dusit complex.

Hundreds of people were confirmed to have been rescued from the incident whose responsibility was claimed by Al-Shabaab Militia Group.

The police released a statement during the attack where they claimed that they were treating it as a terror attack.

"All police teams have been dispatched to the scene where the incident is. As at now, we are treating it as anything, including the highest attack," stated Police spokesperson Charles Owino.

The attack, which started early Tuesday Afternoon, is still ongoing roughly three hours later.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility of the attack which reportedly left several people injured.

In an interview with Al-Jazeera, a spokesperson of the militia group revealed that they were conducting an operation in Nairobi

"We are currently conducting an operation in Nairobi." stated the spokesperson.

The situation was so dire that Village Market, an upscale shopping centre in Nairobi, got shut down indefinitely and shoppers were escorted out of the building.

A marketing officer at the popular mall told Kenyans.co.ke that the move has been made as a precaution.
