British Parliament Discusses Riverside Attack

British Parliament on Wednesday evening discussed the terror attack at Dusit D2 Hotel, 14 Riverside Drive, Nairobi.

Making an address at the floor of the house, British Prime Minister Theresa May conveyed her message of support on behalf of the people of UK.

The Premier further noted that a Briton was among the 14 people killed in the incident that began on Tuesday afternoon.

"We offer hope and prayers to all that have been affected," she stated indicating that their efforts were being channeled through the British Consular in Kenya.

"We stand in solidarity with the Government and the people of Kenya and continue to offer our support to meet the challenge to security and stability that is posed by terrorism in the region," May added.

On behalf of United States of America, outgoing Ambassador Robert Godec conveyed a similar message of solidarity with the country.

"The US commends the speed and courage of the Kenyan security services in ending the January 15 terrorist attack at the Dusit D2 Hotel complex in Nairobi and rescuing innocent civilians," Godec tweeted.

Confirming that one American citizen was killed in the attack, Godec indicated that his government was assisting the family of the victim and other U.S. citizens who were affected.

"We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of all those who were killed and we wish a quick, full recovery to all those injured," he added.

"The United States again condemns in the strongest terms the horrific attack at the Dusit D2. We remain in close communication with Kenyan leaders and are providing assistance in support of Kenyan operations.

"The United States stands firmly with the Kenyan government and people as they confront violent extremism and work to bring terrorists to justice," he concluded.
