CCTV Footage of Suicide Bomber at Dusit D2 Emerges

  • CCTV footage of the suicide bomber who was among the terrorists at Nairobi's Dusit D2 hotel has emerged.

    The timestamp on the video footage shows the attacker hesitating before blowing himself up at exactly 3:05:51pm at 14 Riverside.

    In the resulting blast, debris is seen flying off as smoke engulfs the spot of the attack outside the Secret Garden Restaurant.

    Shortly after, people are seen scampering for safety past the explosion site.

    Reports by security agents in the operation had alleged that the suicide attacker had been completely consumed by the explosion with no remains of his body.

    Different footage released earlier showed four armed men marching into the hotel's complex while armed with AK47 rifles.

    The men who had hurled hand grenades to the security officers manning the gate which saw at least three cars burst up in flames.

    The attackers were shortly after cornered to the 7th floor of the building where they remained in hiding for over 10 hours.

    On Wednesday morning, specialised security teams including the elite Recce Squad advanced into their hideout and managed to neutralise them.

    Following the elimination of the attackers, President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a statement confirming that the operation was officially over.

    "No one should doubt our resolve to maintain security in our country, our determination is unswerving. We have prevailed and shall always prevail over evil.

    "Let us now go to work without fear and continue with our work of building our nation," the President assured the country.
