Abdullahi Ogelo Narrates Encounter With Suicide Bomber Seconds Before Explosion

The man who met the suicide bomber seconds before he exploded at Dusit D2 Hotel in Riverside has narrated his narrow escape.

CCTV footage from the crime scene first revealed a suicide bomber who exploded at the hotel minutes before other attackers stormed in.

However, seconds before the mayhem, an unsuspecting Kenyan, identified as Abdullahi Ogelo, had brushed shoulders with the militant.

Speaking to K24, Ogelo recalled hearing the bomber argue on his phone.

He disclosed that he, nonetheless, proceeded inside the hotel to meet friends when he heard a loud bang.

Wakati nilifika hapo, Kuna maneno nilisikia akisema, akiuliza kwa simu, "kwani muko wapi?" Huku mkono ukipapasa kifua chake...Niliruka hiyo staircase nikaingia restaurant. Kutoka kusalimia majamaa wangu hivi nikataka kupinduka ndio nikasikia mlipuko. (When I arrived, there are words I heard, he was asking on phone, "where are you" while his hand touched his chest. I passed by the staircase and into the restaurant to greet my friends, when I wanted to turn, I heard an explosion).

"I heard a loud bang and saw dark smoke, I felt like someone had lit a gas lighter on my forehead. When I gained conscious I told my friends we should leave, that is when we came out of the hotel running," narrated Ogelo.

He further divulged that, after the explosion, that was when they scampered for safety and even interacted with the bomber’s body pieces scattered everywhere outside the hotel.

He recalled seeing the black clothes after the explosion which reminded him that it was the man he had met just seconds before.

Ogelo is a father of four who worked as a site manager with Dusit D2 Hotel since 2010.
