Eastleigh Businesses Shut Down in Solidarity With Dusit Terror Victims [PHOTOS]

The Eastleigh Business Community, on Friday morning, closed down virtually all business operations in the area.

The move was in condemnation of the recent terrorist attack at 14 Riverside Drive that left at least 21 people dead.

Business, religious and political leaders led by Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan called for Kenyans to shun divisive ideology.

"I joined the people of Eastleigh to remember the victims of the Riverside and to say a resounding no to Al-Shabaab, no to violent extremism and yes to peace and prosperity. Pamoja tutashinda," he stated.

Tens of thousands of Eastleigh residents joined the business owners on the streets of the business hub to condemn terrorism.

Since the attack, statements of support have streamed in from factions condemning the heinous act.

Earlier on Wednesday, a city tycoon  Haji Yassin Jama narrated the pain of losing two sons in the Dusit D2 Hotel terror attack.

"I am a Muslim born in North Eastern part of Kenya. Nimepoteza watoto na wakenya wengine pia wamepoteza wao na sisi wote tumepoteza kwa ajili ya hawa watu (I have lost my sons and other Kenyans have equally suffered due to terrorism)," he stated.

He further urged media and Kenyans to unite and shun blanket profiling of the Somali and Muslim community.
