Details of 6 Cellulant Employees Killed in Dusit Attack Revealed

Cellulant, a leading digital payment platform in the region, has released the identities of six of it’s employees who met their deaths in the Riverside attack.

The six, who were among 21 people who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, held senior positions in the tech firm.

They have been christened as ‘The Brave Six’ owing to their efforts in saving the lives of their colleagues when the terrorists stormed their office block.

In a Twitter post, the company praised each of them for their significant contributions while revealing what made them tick.

The 6 employees are:

1. Ashford Kuria, Head of Product Development

Cellulant described him the “ultimate geek whose knowledge of everything about everything was hilarious because he spent much of his time quietly working on his projects.”

2. Dennis Mwaniki, Head of Information Security

The company described him as a “very humble and intelligent man. His intellect and quick thinking got Cellulant our ISO27001 information security certification.”

3. Jeremiah Mbaria, Head of Cellulant’s hub

The firm said "he was not not just a leader, he was a brother and a mentor. He guided his team with humility and corrected with humor. He loved God and everyone he came across and challenged his team to work on bettering themselves.”

4. John Ndiritu, Quality Assurance Tester

Cellulant said “he was passionate about service improvement and worked on all the projects. John was best known for humor,” Cellulant remembered him.

5. Kelvin Gitonga, Hub Engineer

The firm said that “Kelvin will be remembered as an intelligent and a competent engineer who worked in the Hub Implementation Department as a Hub Developer. He was very passionate about his job and everything Java Script.

6. Wilfred Kareithi, Implementation Engineer and leader of Cellulant’s Global Delivery Team

He was remembered as “energetic, always happy and an individual who never shied away from any difficulties. He epitomized our motto: make possible.”

In an interview on Capital FM on Saturday, Cellulant CEO Ken Njoroge stated that the company would offer support to the families of the deceased.

A memorial service in honour of the six will be held on Tuesday, January 22 from 10:30 am at CITAM Valley Road Church.
