Boy Steals Gilgil MP Martha Wangari's Heart After Repeating KCPE 4 Times

A boy who repeated the KCPE examination four times recently caught the attention of Gilgil MP Martha Wangari.

The 16-year-old Nyakio Richard originally sat his KCPE in 2015 and scored 311 marks. On his second attempt the following year, he scored 335 marks.

Still unable to secure a school because of his humble background, he sat for the examination again in 2017 and got 342.

He again decided to give it another shot and in the results released in November 2018, Richard attained 371 and was offered admission to Gitare Day School.

The MP was surprised that he was admitted to the day school despite his high score.

"One of my team members found him being admitted in Gitare, a day school accompanied by his old grandmother," the MP wrote on Facebook.

Through the lawmaker's intervention, he joined Koelel High school which is more prestigious than the one he had been selected to join.

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo also received public praise for sponsoring a student to join Form One at Mangu High School

The philanthropic former county boss also promised to pay for the boy's University education.

"The main objective of helping our children to join school is to ensure that access to education is one of the solutions to the numerous challenges facing the people in this county," stated Kabogo.
