Woman in Malaba Dies After Encounter With Plastic Snake

A woman died of shock two weeks ago in Malaba, Kakamega County, after a man threw a plastic snake towards her direction.

The family of the deceased, led by Nathan Pili and Jacob Mulunda, are now seeking justice for the death demanding that action is taken against those responsible.

Paul Ochami, the chief of Chesoro area narrated that the businesswoman died of shock after a man threw a fake snake from the opposite side of the road towards her.

(A man on the road threw a plastic snake which frightened one of the ladies who was doing business by the roadside. After she saw it, she fainted.)

She was later taken to the hospital where she died and was later buried.

The incident was revisited two weeks later after the owner of the plastic snake was ordered to dispose it but refused.

It is estimated that between 15 and 25 people lose their lives every day due to snake bites while more than 100 others have their limbs amputated, causing them permanent disability.

Most cases of snake bites are said to increase during the rainy seasons when the reptiles come out of their shelter to hunt and breed.

Most of the people who are affected by snake bites are from dry and arid areas like Kitui, Garissa, Marsabit among others as snakes slither to homesteads in such of water and shelter.
