DCI Recruits 600 Specialists to Enhance its Operation

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has recruited 600 police officers to join its team in a bid to improve operations.

The 600 officers were selected after intensive interviews in the Kenya Police and Administration Police Unit.

The officers, who are supposed to join the DCI Academy on January 28, 2019, will be required to undergo an intensive training program for six months.

They will then be dispersed to join different units including, Crime Investigation, Forensics, and Intelligence Collection and Analysis.

As part of the requirements, all the officers recruited are below 55 years and have served in the Police Service for at least five years.

They were required to be holders of Degrees or Diplomas in Pure, Applied or Social Sciences for special officers, while artisans and drivers were required to have a mean grade of C and below in KCSE.

The officers were also supposed to have a clean disciplinary record and to have passed all police exams.

The officers include; two police commissioners, four senior superintendents of police, eight chief inspectors, 18 sergeants, 50 corporals, and 500 police constables.

The recruitment comes after the DCI announced that it would spend Ksh38.5 billion to revamp its operations in 2017.

Part of the plan was to see that the unit increased its workforce to over 10,000 officers
