CCTV Footage Adds New Twist to Mildred Odira’s Murder

Police officers probing the death of Nation Media employee, Mildred Odira, are looking into the possibility that she used another means of transport from Uhai Neema Hospital.

CCTV footage extracted from the hospital shows that Odira alighted from the taxi outside the gate after which the driver went through the gate, made a U-turn and left.

This contradicts earlier reports that the 32-year-old did not alight from the taxi.

However, sleuths have not discharged the taxi driver, Davis Ochieng’, who is still in custody as they await the results from the Government Chemist to establish if the journalist was defiled before she was murdered.

According to the National Police Service director of communications and corporate affairs, Charles Owino, Odira’s nail samples will establish whether she got into a fight.

“The suspect will be arraigned tomorrow, but we are relying on the lab results which will help determine if he has a case to answer,” Owino stated.

The police are also trying to determine which vehicle took Odira from the hospital's gate to Allsops where her body was found on January 29, 2019.

According to Daily Nation, DCI, Government pathologist and officers from the Kenya National Highways Authority had visited the spot where Odira’s body was found to get clues of what caused her death.

Odira was buried on Monday at her home in Rusinga, Homa Bay County.

She was a switchboard operator with Foresight company but based at Nation Centre.
