Malindi OCPD Matawa Muchangi died on Monday morning at a private hospital in Mombasa.
According to reports, Muchangi died while undergoing treatment after he was rushed to the hospital on Friday.
It is reported that he collapsed at his home and broke his collarbone.
Malindi Director of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) Anthony Sunguti confirmed the death.
“The OCPD fell ill on Sunday evening at his home before he was rushed to the hospital where he passed on hours later,” Sunguti revealed.
The DCIO, however, stated that a postmortem would be conducted to establish what led to the OCPD’s death.
Elsewhere, Impala Rugby Football Club (RFC) player Richard Sidindi Akoth also died on Monday morning after he drowned while swimming at the club's grounds.
Known to many as Real Jadhah Power, Sidindi was Impala’s Fullback. He was a key player in both the fifteens and the sevens version of the game.
He last played for Impala Saracens on February 23, where Impala lost to Homeboyz 18-11 in the Eric Shirley Shield (ESS).
Sidindi was an Information Technology (IT) specialist. He previously played for Kisumu RFC.
He was a student at St Mary's Yala before joining Maseno University. He is described as a lover of pets and humanity, an adamant Arsenal fan, and someone with a great personality.
