Billionaire's Son Jobless After Father Fired Him

Tahir Sheikh’s son, Mohammed Tahir, has been jobless for many years after his father fired him before his death.

Sheikh, the billionaire who owned TSS bus services, maize mills and other businesses died in January 2017.

Mohammed was reportedly fired after he tried to tell his father about the irregularities in running of TSS maize millers as reported by The Star.

“I was dismissed by my father as a director,” he stated.

He recalled that at the age of 47, his father would give him allowances, which he used to support his family.

The billionaire's son was narrating this during a trial, where he was testifying against James Mwangi, Aweys Mohamed, Zein Ahmed, Zahir Abbas and Victor Were.

Addressing the Mombasa Senior Magistrate Francis Kyambia, he stated that he and his father discovered some employees were defrauding the company.

The five have been charged with conspiring to defraud TSS firms of money worth billions.

They are accused of forgery and transferring shareholders’ details without consent. The case was adjourned to April 4, 2019.

The companies they allegedly defrauded were TSS Grain, Juja Coffee Exporters, TSS Investment, TSS Salt Manufactures and Mvita Bottlers.
