MP Aisha Jumwa Explains Why She Can’t Support Joho's Presidential Bid

Malindi Member of Parliament (MP), Aisha Jumwa, on Tuesday cleared the air on why she was not supporting Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho’s 2022 presidential bid.

The vocal Malindi leader sent out a video on Facebook in which she is seen stating the various reasons why she cannot back Joho for the presidency in the 2022 General Elections.

“Ali Hassan Joho is not serious, he does not believe in himself,” she divulged.

Jumwa goes on to accuse the governor of sycophancy towards National Super Alliance (NASA) Party leader, Raila Odinga.

She claimed that the governor was at Raila’s beck and call and that he was too easily controlled as well as instructed on what to do by the ODM Deputy Party Leader, thus making him unsuitable as a viable candidate to back for the presidency.

Jumwa equally expressed her discontent towards statements she claims were made by the Mombasa governor.

The embattled Malindi MP recently got some reprieve after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) temporarily stopped her expulsion from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Her party delegates had on Friday voted to eject her, citing disloyalty as the key reason behind the bold move.

Ms Jumwa is believed to have been sidelined by her party due to her open support of DP William Ruto’s presidential aspirations in 2022.

The Malindi lawmaker was firm in her statement that there would be no by-election in her constituency, insisting that she will finish her five-year term as per the law, after her expulsion from the party.

Here is the video of the MP explaining why she wouldn’t back Governor Joho for president come 2022.
