President Uhuru's Photos With Barricaded Schoolgirls Cause Outrage

Kenyans have expressed their displeasure with the photos of President Uhuru Kenyatta greeting secondary school girls through a barrier.

The Head of State was en route to Kirinyaga University for the Sixth Annual Devolution Conference when he made a stop to interact with St. Bakhita, Kiburia Girls students.

He was accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who is the host of the conference.

The photo shows the president interacting with the girls through a wire mesh fence and his security guards trying to keep it from collapsing.

Netizens were, however, disappointed because of the barrier between Uhuru and the schoolgirls.

A majority of comments were about Kenyans enquiring whether the students were caged or why they were barricaded.

Egline Samoei expressed his disappointment because it was unlike Uhuru who does not shy away from freely interacting with regular citizens.

One Paul Kyhanya, on his part, stated that the fence made it look like Uhuru was watching animals at Nairobi Animal Orphanage.

Macharia Kabete wondered why the president did not enter the school compound and interact with the girls.

"It represents the future, in which they'll be caged to pay the national debts.. while the beneficiaries enjoy the fruits," commented another Twitter user, Mandela
