Police Officer Forced to Pay Ksh 4K Over Clamped Vehicle at Kisumu Airport

A police officer found himself in a tight spot on Saturday morning after parking in a non-designated area at Kisumu International Airport.

Citizen TV reports that the policeman was at the facility to drop one of his bosses when he ran into trouble.

He is said to have left his car on the pavement in the midst of the rush.

Upon returning, the officer realized that his car had been clamped by National Youth Service (NYS) officers who had been deployed at the airport as security officers.

A confrontation ensued between the two parties as the angry officer nearly engaged in a bare-knuckle fight.

However, passengers and taxi drivers who were at the facility separated them before worse came to worst.

The policeman was forced to part with Ksh4,000 to have his car back.

After receiving the money, the NYS officer unclamped the vehicle and released the officer.

The incident has caused a heated debate on social media, many have hailed the NYS officers for not bending the rules, circumstances notwithstanding.

In the last few years, servicemen have not been spared when they break the law. Perhaps this explains the increase in arrests of police officers.
