Two people lost their lives while several others sustained injuries on Saturday afternoon after a lorry rammed into a matatu along Nairobi-Kangundo road.
The accident took place near a trading center known as Joska two kilometers from Tala Town.
The matatu, which is attached to Makata Sacco, was travelling from Kangundo towards Nairobi when a lorry hit it on the side.
Police reports indicated that one person died on the spot while the other passed on while receiving treatment at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital.
Three of the injured were also admitted while in critical condition while the others were admitted to various health centres in the area.
The accident caused a traffic snarl up along the highway before the police towed away the police vehicles.
Bodies of the deceased were taken to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital Mortuary.
Separately, there was traffic snarl up along Nairobi-Nakuru highway after a truck transporting an oversized load got stuck under a bridge.
The truck was reportedly carrying a boiler tank.
