3 CSs DCI George Kinoti Will Grill Next Over Dam Scandal
Director of Criminal investigations George Kinoti has revealed the other three Cabinet Secretaries that are in line for questioning over the dam scandal, after Treasury CS Henry Rotich who was grilled consecutively for three days.
Kinoti told Nation that CS Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) Simon Chelgui (Water) and Mwangi Kiunjuri (Agriculture) are expected to present themselves at the DCI headquarters.
Besides the Uhuru's Cabinet members, all past and present Principal Secretaries from the ministries since the projects were conceptualised.
“This is a complex investigation and we want to hear from all those who were involved to understand why there was a rush to award the contract,” intimated Kinoti.
The DCI also expect a visit from Kerio Valley Development Authority MD David Kimosop who signed the Arror and Kimwarer dam contracts.
The nature of the investigation has become complex, because of the high profile individuals and the colossal amount of money involved.
Director of Public Prosecutions Noording Haji has constituted a team of prosecutors to work closely with the DCI to ensure that the investigations into the projects were meticulous, comprehensive and expeditiously carried out.
He further revealed that he had directed that financial investigations be carried out to ensure that any properties that are proceeds of the crime are found.
"...So as to ensure that any ensuing prosecutions will not only be limited to securing convictions against the perpetrators of the fraudulent activities but also be predicated upon recovery of public funds that may have been improperly expended," he explained.
Haji called for patience as the investigators proceed with their work and for those under probe to have ample time to shed light on what actually transpired.
